Yearly wrap-up.

Now that my posts here are getting less frequent, you are hereby invited to meet me on the socials. Check Instagram, Bluesky, and Threads for my trenchant opinions.

What's been going on this year? Well, not a lot apart from work and the usual madness in the news. 20x2 continues apace; we had four shows this year, each one a fine evening of entertainment. Next show will be on Sunday, January 5 if you see this message in time.

I continue my music lessons at the Old Town School and took two ensemble classes. Results were mixed. While I enjoy the band dynamic, the class times are not working well with my schedule. I'm only taking private lessons now, but ensemble classes may continue in the new year.

One thing that will definitely continue is my woodworking. I took an intro class in 2023 at the CIADC and now I've signed up for the next level of class, where I'll be able to work on my own projects. I'm really wanting to get into wooden puzzle construction; as a fan of puzzles since I was a wee lad, the opportunity to create some of my own is extremely enticing. So that starts in just a few weeks!

Our obsession with Taskmaster continues. I'm assuming you're already familiar with the show, but in case you are not, check out the instant classic task from series 2 where comedian Joe Wilkinson experiences the heights and depths of the show within about a minute.

And finally, I have found a use for my extensive computer programming contest background in the Advent of Code event, now in its tenth year. At the risk of ruining my record I'm 9 for 9 now, and have been solving some of the previous years' problems as further practice. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I can start Christmas morning with a completed advent calendar.

Okay, that's enough from me. Enjoy your year as best you can, and we'll see you in December of 2025 (if not sooner).
